Cincinnati Museum Center (July 2015)

On the morning of July 2, 2015, I was still in the midst of my Roller Coaster Bucket List trip (which started with Spokane and Hell’s Canyon). I had spent the previous day at Kings Island, where I rode *the* roller coaster that had been the inspiration for the entire trip – The Beast, longest wooden coaster in the world. I was not disappointed. But that’s not what I want to tell you about today. My flight out of Cincinnati wasn’t until the middle of the afternoon, so I had all morning to indulge my love of Art Deco architecture, and I had read good things about the Cincinnati Museum Center. Once again, I was not disappointed!

Cincinnati Union Terminal was built in the early 1930’s as a passenger train station serving several railroads. No longer functioning as a train station, this gorgeous building today houses multiple museums, and is now known as the Cincinnati Museum Center. But wait, I feel like I’ve seen this building somewhere before. Could it be? Nahhhhh! Well…yes, it’s the Hall of Justice from Super Friends!

While the building itself is an Art Deco masterpiece (definitely one of my Top 5 faves), I was pleasantly surprised to find that the architectural style extends beyond the building, all the way out to the parking lots. For example…

The flag pole in front of the building is Art Deco

The street lights outside the building are Art Deco

And we finish with an assortment of detail pics of the building’s various architectural features.
