For the last few years, I’ve been going to see my Parkinson’s Disease (PD) specialist once every four months. That may sound like a lot, but given the speed at which PD can progress and the frequency of new therapies coming into existence, it seems to be about right. My next visit is just under two months away, but I need to reschedule it, as it conflicts with my flight to Carhenge. So, I was planning on pushing it out another two weeks or so. In the meantime, my off periods are on the rise again. They are especially bad when combined with insomnia. I’m sleeping much better than I was a year ago, but I still have a couple mornings each week when I wake up far too early (4:15 today). When this happens, I often experience some pretty serious anxiety, coupled with a fatigue that makes me feel like not doing a DAMN thing. I don’t feel like walking the dog, I don’t feel like watching TV, don’t even feel much like playing video games or reading a book. So, it seems like I’m about ready for my next visit already. Given the improvement I’ve seen with timed-release Amantadine (GoCovri), maybe it’s time to switch my Levodopa to the timed-release formulation. Or maybe they’ll have something else new for me to try. Something like Thai peanut sauce.
