Stem Cell Therapy

When I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) eight years ago, my PD specialist told me he believed a cure would be identified within just “a few years”. So, I comforted myself with the thought that this was something I would only have to deal with for two or three years, then a cure would come along and everything would go back to normal. Two years came and went: no cure. I was disappointed, but still optimistic. A third year came and went: still no cure.

At this point, I decided to take a more active role, doing research into what kind of progress was being made towards a cure. Specifically, I started looking for information on studies involving stem cells and PD. While I no longer remember the specifics of what I found, I do remember that everything I saw basically said stem cell research had met with disappointing results. So, I gave up hope and I died.

Fast forward to 2023: I’m alive again (somehow), but still dealing with PD. Then I see an ad for Stem Cell of America. This ad features Ed Begley, Jr. talking about how this organization’s stem cell therapy has drastically diminished his PD symptoms. Given what my previous digging had uncovered regarding stem cell research, I was skeptical. Yet I wanted to know more, so I emailed them requesting more information. Now, after reviewing their response and their web site (https://stemcellofamerica.com/), I am almost convinced I want to try this. But I want to run this by YOU first. So, tell me dear readers: Have any of you done significant research on Stem Cell of America, or even undergone their treatment? If so, I would be very interested to hear about your discoveries and/or experiences with them. Please enlighten me in the Comments section below.

  1. Do you the doctors think we’ll forget in two and a half years they said a ‘cure’ was coming in three? Or is the standard answer?

  2. Curious as to the “downsides” of giving it a try…although, I can’t imagine it’s super affordable. If it doesn’t make the PD better, could it make it worse, or would you just be where you are now?
