A Coupla Months Ago

A coupla weeks before I left on my big Colorado / Wyoming trip, a frog sat itself down on the rim of Bear’s wading pool, demanding that I take its picture. I shot the former tadpole from a few angles; I think these came out pretty dern well:

Speaking of Bear, while I had the camera out for Froggy, it occurred to me that I hadn’t taken any pics of Bear for some time. So, I snagged a couple real quick-like:

About a week later, Bear and I went up to the Blue Ridge Parkway (BuRP), partly to escape the heat, but also partly to play with a couple new photography toys I had just acquired. The first of these is a remote control. This is not a wireless remote; I chose to save a few bucks by going with the wired remote, because it satisfied my needs. Y’see, photography is a little more difficult when you have Parkinson’s Disease. Even when I have the camera on a tripod, Mr. Parkinson will sometimes jerk the camera enough to blur/streak the picture. The wired remote eliminates this problem. Once we got to the BuRP, I realized the remote would also be good for selfies, or self-n-Bearies. So, I tried a couple of those:

…and then a few more with just Bear:

The other new toy was a polarizing filter. I stopped at the Wilson Creek Valley overlook and played with this thing a bit. This overlook did not provide the best subject matter for such a filter, and I still have quite a bit to learn about using the filter, but here’s a bad example of what it can do. The following pictures were taken just a few seconds apart, rotating the filter about a quarter turn after each shot:

And finally, I don’t remember seeing this at the time, but it looks like I caught a CIA helicopter or UFO:

That’s all for today, folks. If I don’t see you, have a great Labor Day! If I do see you, try to have a great Labor Day despite having been seen by me.
