It was a different time. A more innocent time. A smellier time. What the Hell am I talking about? I don’t know. But it was definitely late July of 2010. I was road-trippin’ from Idaho to Colorado and had but one day on the itinerary for a side jaunt up through Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. There… that’s sufficient back story donchathink? Good. Let’s begin with some images from Grand Teton National Park…

Next up…Yellowstone. Let’s make Mammoth Hot Springs our first stop within Yellowstone National Park. Yes, I know that makes no sense, but there’s nothing in this blog’s by-laws that says I have to present my photos in chronological (or geographical) order.
What can I say about Mammoth Hot Springs that hasn’t already been said? “Nothing”, you say? Yeah, you’re probably right. So just check out these cool pics of this groovy place…

As visually fascinating as the hot springs are, I was quite disappointed that we did not get to see any mammoths. So, with tears in my eyes and squirrels in my pants, I headed back down the road. I snapped a few pics along the way…

Finally, I arrived at the last stop o’ the day: Upper Geyser Basin. Take a look Upper Geyser, and you’ll find she’s got some cool stuff up there…

That about wraps it up. I know there was tantalizingly little for such an amazing area, but what do you expect when you only allow yourself a single day here? But, hey! If you yearn for more, I went back ten years later and spent an entire week at Yellowstone / Tetons. On that trip, I had a much better camera, I took far more pictures, and (hopefully) provided more useful information in my narratives. Click here to begin following that adventure. Next week in this space, I’ll take you on one or maybe two more hikes on the west side of Boulder, Colorado. And if I’m feeling REALLY ambitious, I could even take you to the east coast. But I wouldn’t count on it.
