Some time ago, I wrote a little about the Parkinson’s Disease (PD) symptom known to many as “Acting Out Dreams“. Over the last couple of days, this symptom (formally known as REM Sleep Behavior Disorder) has manifested itself in a new and annoying manner.
Y’see, I keep my laptop wired to my television screen most of the time, because my smart TV is actually pretty stupid. I have a wireless keyboard (KB) that serves as my ‘remote’. Now, it’s not unusual for me to fall asleep while watching TV or surfing the internet. As a result, I often fall asleep with my wireless KB in hand(s).
The trouble started a few nights ago. I was asleep with the keyboard firmly in my grasp. I dreamt that I was using my fingernails to pluck unnecessary particles out of…something?? I don’t recall the specifics, but let’s say I was plucking the seeds from an orange. I woke up at the exact moment when my plucking motions in real life actually popped one of the keys off of my keyboard.
You’d think something like this would be a freak accident. But the very next night it happened again! So, now my keyboard / remote control is missing two keys. That’s two down, 109 to go!
Luckily, the two I broke off (so far) are both keys I don’t use very often: the “Windows key” and the Ctrl key on the right side of the keyboard. I’m hoping these two occurrences will be the end of it. If not, I’ll be looking into the possibility of getting a Bluetooth Ouijah board.
I came precariously close to scratching my eye. I purchased some white cotton gloves …they limit my finger dexterity
