ThrowBack Thursday (TBT), as you have come to know it here on Voyages With Parkinson’s, was originally created as a way to force myself to catch up on what had become a nine-year backlog of photos. I am now caught up (or will be once … Continue reading Pics Taken Around the House (March 2021 – Jan. 2022)
I don’t recall ever seeing this listed as a Parkinson’s symptom or as a side effect of any of the meds I’m on, so this may and/or may not be germane to this blog, but… I fart a lot. No, I mean a LOT, as … Continue reading What Am I Doing to the Ozone Layer?
Bear’s butt sucks. I’ve been telling myself I’m going to take my dog (Bear) in for grooming soon. Unfortunately, I believed myself. Why is this unfortunate? Because: A Great Pyrenees that hasn’t been brushed for five months is a mess. Bear’s hind end has loads … Continue reading Grooming a Great Pyrenees
The other day, I mentioned seeing a Kmart here on St Thomas, and said that I would go back and get evidence. I have been to that Kmart now, where I purchased socks, Pringles, and PowerAde. Here is the evidence: And now, back to our … Continue reading Virgin Islands 2023 Trip Report (last couple days)
I regularly complete surveys regarding my Parkinson’s Disease (PD) symptoms and treatments (mostly Fox Insight surveys). One question they always ask is whether I physically act out my dreams (a common PD symptom, it seems). Since I sleep alone, I’ve never known how to answer that one. Until recently, that is.
On one recent night, I fell asleep on my couch. Eventually, I started dreaming. I dreamed I was fighting the Arachnids from the movie Starship Troopers. But not with weapons – I was just punching them. I woke myself up when I punched a canister of snacks I had left on the coffee table. So, now I know the answer to that question. It may also be why Bear stopped sleeping in my room long ago.
About three months ago, I let y’all know that I was going through speech therapy. That therapy has wrapped up, so I suppose it’s time for an update. The end result is: it worked. It’s been months since I last had an incident where my … Continue reading Speech Therapy End Game
My dog is being rambunctious again. Maybe I should get some video of him being rambunctious, but it’s so short-lived that I doubt I could ever catch it. And now, as if to illustrate my point, the rambunctiousness has given way to howling at distant sirens. What type of sirens? Fire? Ambulance? Police? Nope. Those are definitely air raid sirens. The British are coming! The British are coming! Let’s see, how did that go? One if by land, two if by sea, 3.14 if by air?
On an unrelated note: I wonder if there are any a cappella heavy metal groups
NOTE: After typing the previous sentence, I did some googling. I found that not only does such a thing exist, but I should have KNOWN it exists, because I’m certain I’ve heard this one before:
Yesterday was National Vinyl Record Day! Since it fell on a Friday, I decided to celebrate it as a Vinyl Record Weekend. I’m listening to an Amboy Dukes record right now. I’m also listening to my dog. He keeps saying the same thing:
“Bark! And you can quote me on that.” – Bear Acuda Williams
Wait, now he’s speaking in haiku:
I can sure bark, sir!
Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark!
Yep, I can sure bark!
I didn’t say it was good haiku. Anywho, if you have the technology, crank up some records this weekend! Then we can all look forward to the next major holiday: National Video Games Day!
I think Bear has been inviting friends over while I’m not home. I was patrolling the yard with my Pooper Scooper today, when I came across some dog crap that was too small to be from Bear’s Big Butt. I asked him about it. He … Continue reading Balance Issues
Bear is getting VERY good about staying quiet outdoors at night. Being a Great Pyrenees, he prefers cooler temperatures, and I learned early on that he preferred to sleep outside. But once he reached Barking Age, I found that he would keep everyone in the … Continue reading Bark in the Dark
