I’ll be keeping today’s episode of ThrowBack Thursday short, partly because I am recuperating from elective eyeball surgery, and partly because I still have a lot to iron out in regard to my next trip (which is only 11 days away). It was September 2007. … Continue reading California (September 2007)
Hey! It’s Thursday! Time for another ThrowBack. We begin our voyage with Cedric’s employment status. At the beginning of April 2011, I was starting a new job with a government contractor. I would be working at the Denver Federal Center, but I had to spend … Continue reading Chesapeake Bay (April 2011)
Do you have a room in your house that you never go into? And/or one where you haven’t opened the curtains / blinds in quite some time. I have the latter type. It’s the dog’s room. I keep the curtains closed in there in hopes that he’ll see fewer people / things outside to bark about. Well, I went into this room the other morning, opened the curtain, and was faced with this:
Yup. A vine that is trying to completely cover a bush just outside the window has actually found its way INTO THE HOUSE. It managed to squeeze in through a tiny gap where the two window frames come together (when the window is closed). What are the odds? Seriously, what are they? Now that I know the outcome, I might use the Way-the-Hell-Back Machine to go to Vegas and place a bet on it. Come to think of it, why am I not already using my Way-the-Hell-Back Machine for sports betting? I need to get my priorities straight.
Hey! HEY! It’s time for another ThrowBack Thursday! You’d think I’d be out of material for these posts by now, but I just keep digging up more. For example, during February 2011, a dear friend moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee – and I went out to … Continue reading Historic Fort Wood Neighborhood (February 2011)
During the summer of 2011, I moved from the city of Longmont to the city o’ Lakewood. The apartment I moved into would be my last residence in Colorado, but I didn’t yet know that. What I did know was that I loved my new … Continue reading Lakewood, Colorado (August 2011)
Today is the big day, the one I’ve been waiting for. The day I drive “the loneliest road in America”, the stretch of U.S. Highway 50 that crosses northern Nevada. Ironically, this wasn’t a planned part of the trip. I just needed to get from … Continue reading Nevada 2024 Trip Report (Day 11)
(Continued from here.) Day 7: Let’s all get drunk and go to Cher’s house! WOOOOO! Whoa. Sorry. I don’t know where the Hell that came from. Let’s get on with the trip report, shall we? I spent the last few days of my Mississippi State Vacation gradually crossing from … Continue reading Mississippi 2024 Trip Report (final few days)
Day 5: The plan for Vicksburg was to spend as long as it takes to see everything at the Vicksburg National Military Park, as much as two full days. If it didn’t take a full two days, then I would use my remaining time to visit … Continue reading Mississippi 2024 Trip Report (Days 5 and 6)
Day 3: Unlike the night before, I remembered to take my bedtime pills last night. So, I haven’t had any Parkinson’s-caused walking trouble today. However, because of the damage I did yesterday, I woke up today with an aching hip. Luckily, one of my morning meds is meloxicam, … Continue reading Mississippi 2024 Trip Report (Days 3 and 4)
Today on ThrowBack Thursday, we pay a visit to where it all began (depending on how you define “it”, and “all”, and “began”). Gold was officially first discovered in what was to become Colorado in late 1858. These initial discoveries were (as is almost always the case) … Continue reading Black Hawk, Colorado (May & August 2012)
