Spokane (June 2015)

In June of 2015, I embarked on what I dubbed my Roller Coaster Bucket List Tour, which consisted of five amusement parks in five states. My first stop was Silverwood in Athol, Idaho. To get there, I took a flight to the nearby city of Spokane, Washington. I was joined by a friend who was flying in from Colorado – on a much later flight than mine. Since I had a few hours to kill before my friend’s flight arrived, I decided to explore downtown Spokane.

Downtown Spokane, Washington

Wandering around the downtown areas of unfamiliar cities is normal behavior for me. You see, I’m an architecture fan. Not an expert, not even knowledgeable. To put it simply: I like old, ornate buildings. I seem to be especially drawn to courthouses, and the Spokane County Courthouse is a doozy! It’s the only courthouse I remember ever seeing that was designed in the French Renaissance style. Check it out:

Ever wonder where holy water comes from? Well, I think this is it.

What better way for a restaurant to attract customers than with a drawing of a zombified skunk that’s threatening to spray?

Yes, it’s Parkade…the parking of the future…TODAY!
