OK, I lied. In the previous installment of ThrowBack Thursday, I claimed that post was the last of my 2013 Colorado tour. But I had forgotten that I went through Leadville on the way home from Creede. (Random fact: Leadville, Colorado is the highest incorporated city in North America, at an official elevation of 10,152 feet above sea level.) Upon my arrival at Leadville, I boarded the Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad for a trip up to the Climax molybdenum mine and back. This was another example of something I wanted to experience, not to photograph. So, I have no pictures from this train trip. Well, that’s not the only reason I have no pictures. Truth be told, the scenery was pretty tame by Colorado standards. The train itself wasn’t particularly photogenic, either. The cars weren’t historic, and the engine was diesel (not steam). I’ve been on seven tourist railroads in Colorado, and this one was my least favorite.
Next, I started walking a portion of Leadville’s Mineral Belt Trail. This trail forms a loop around the city; I had walked a good portion of this trail previously, specifically in the old mining areas east of town, but I went a little way to the east again this time and got the following pics:

Rather than continue to see stuff I’d already seen, I started walking the western half of the trail. This soon brought me to a historic cemetery. I don’t normally seek out historic cemeteries, but if a road or trail just happens to bring me to one, I’ll get some pictures. Like these, f’rinstance:

OK, that’s it for Colorado! Not just for my 2013 Leftover Colorado tour, specifically. I mean DONE. Next week’s ThrowBack Thursday will be from clear the Hell across the continent in North Carolina. Until then, nanoo nanoo!
